Club Projects
The Scarborough Lions Club is a committed community group involved in a wide range of projects categorised into three main areas: fundraising, service activities, and Welfare Contributions.
Our primary objective is to create a beneficial influence on the well-being of individuals and various needy groups in the immediate local community through our dedicated endeavours.
Fundraising

Scarborough Lions Club organises a vast array of fundraising events through out the year. The people of Scarborough are a very generous community and we thank them for their continuing support.
Our fundraising events include the very popular New Years Dip, Santa’s sleigh at Christmas, our Easter Duck at Easter, Supermarket bucket collections and fundraising social events such as our ‘Promises Auction’.
Without the dedication of our clubs Lions and the support of our community we could not help and support those in need in such a meaningful way. So thank you all.

The 5K Project
Scarborough Lions recently announced the launch of a new community support grant scheme. ‘The Community Grants Project’ has been setup to support local registered charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, individuals and many more in the Scarborough area.
Grants of up to £500 are available for projects that make a positive difference to local communities or individuals. This could be the provision of community based projects, purchase or replacement of much needed equipment or nursery and school based projects. In fact we considered applications from a wide range of projects that needed an injection of up to £500.

Scarborough Hospital Appeal

Scarborough Lions in conjunction with with 4 other Lions Clubs in the area donated £4700 to Scarborough Hospital to be used to purchase a treatment chair for the new Urgent & Emergency Care Centre (UECC) unit at Scarborough Hospital. This was a joint project between Scarborough, Filey, Ryedale, Malton and Easingwold Lions Clubs.
Scarborough Lions Club donated £2000 to the fund. We raised £1600 at a very well attended Clairvoyant social night recently, hosted by Dona Bell. The club donated the remaining £400. The image shows Lions Phil and Jackie with Lions Club friends Judith and Jenny.
Scarborough Defibrillator Project
Scarborough Lions Club has provided community defibrillators for many years, the responsibility of which has eventually been taken over by local businesses/organisations like the RNLI. Since 2022, however, the Club has provided 2 further defibs on Falsgrave Rd (adjacent to no. 80 by the fishing tackle shop) and at 69 Manor Rd (at ‘Flames’ Fire & Stove Showroom).
Most people know that a defib can save a life when a person has suffered a cardiac arrest. However, the community defibrillator project is not just about a defib and a cabinet. The role of the Guardian is to check the defib regularly and asap after the defib has been accessed by the public (or emergency services) to ensure it is ready to be used again as quickly as possible.
