The new Lionistic year began on the 1st July. New Lion President Angie and the club have agreed the clubs priorities for the year ahead.
The club has appointed club officers for various roles within the club. Thank you for all you do for our club and for our community.
Lion Phil has become treasurer and secretary.
Lion Alan B is now vice president and will assist Lion Angie in the running of the club.
We will continue to support our usual community events that are well attended. The Santa Sleigh run, supermarket collections, and New Years Day Dip will also continue.
There will be future stand alone fundraising events for local causes. We can also support international ones if needed like the Turkey Earthquake Disaster or the Ukrainian fuel stoves appeal.
We shall begin a youth program to encourage volunteering as young Lions or friends of the lions. We envisage engaging with sixth forms, colleges, or youth groups. The idea is for a young Lions group to widen the age range of members. We value new ideas and different views. We are sure the young people will have alternative views of what we can do as a club.
We remain the guardians of two public access defibrillators (near the Tap and Spile on Falsgrave Road, and Flames showroom on Manor Road) looking after the equipment and checking each one after they have been used. This is a year round commitment and well worth the effort.
The 5k Community Grant Project recipients have been announced. We are sure this very popular project will be repeated this coming year. Supporting our community is the reason behind us becoming Lions club members. There are so many worthy groups and individuals who we will partner with to support our community.
We will continue to collect spectacles, hearing aids, and medication foil strips for recycling.
We will be actively recruiting more Lions Club members this year. We will be attending information events about what we do as a club in addition to distributing information leaflets.
If you can spare a few hours a month and want to meet new people please consider joining us at a meeting or community event. Details are on this website.
There are regular social events now which are a good way to get out and about. There has been indoor bowling, meals out, and next an escape room experience. New ideas considered.
Lion President Angie, and the Scarborough Lions wish all Lions clubs good luck and a fruitful new Lionistic year.
